This image is a data visualization including a map, on tornadoes in Florida. On the map on the upper right side, you can see the decade of twisters. Between 2005 and 2015, 398 tornadoes touched down in Florida. Most of them were short-lived and small.
The tornado intensity is measured by the F scale or the Fujita. Florida has not seen an F4 or F5, the strongest tornado types. On the map, the tornadoes are marked from F0 (winds 65-85 miles per hour) in green, F1 (winds 86 – 110 miles per hour) in orange, F2 (winds 111 – 135 miles per hour) in red and lastly F3 (winds 136 – 165 miles per hour) in purple.
Some of the location labels on the map include Naples, Fort Myers, Key West, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Vero Beach, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Lake City, Gainesville, Tallahassee and Pensacola.
From this data you can also see that the majority of the tornadoes in Florida between 2005 and 2015 have indeed been small and low impact.
