Washington Post – Map Letelier’s route to work

This image is a map, visualizing the location of the explosion site on September 21st, 1976 in the area of Maryland and D.C. The map, titled with Letelier’s router to work, shows numbers 1 – 3 on the map.

The icon for number 1 stands for the location where Orlando Letelier and Ronni and Michael Moffitt leave Letelier’s home in Bethesda Md., and head to the Institute for Policy Studies in D.C at 9:15 am.

The story continues on icon number 2, where at 9:20 am a gray Sedan carrying two Cuban exiles begins tailing Leteliers car on River Road.

At 9:35 am, a number 3 icon is marked to locate where Atelier drives past the Irish and Romanian embassies at Sheridan circle. A bomb under his car detonated. Letelier is killed. Ronni later dies from her wounds at the hospital, while Michael survives the blast.

Other labels on the map include the markings for River Road, 46th Street NW, Massachusetts Ave NW, Connecticut Ave NW, Dupont Circle, The white House and the American University. The map has a scale bar of 1 mile.
