Sibylline – Rising Water Insecurity brings Challenges

The image represents a map that assesses the water insecurity in Central Asia according to a scoring system known as the ASTRA index, with scores ranging from 1 to 10.

The different regions specifically marked on the map include the Kyzylorda Region, Mangystau Region and the Ferghana Valley among others. These regions are represented in varying shades of pink or blue, with darker areas pointing to higher water insecurity. Countries, such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are also identified on this map.

In the top-left corner of the map, there’s an inset map in the form of a globe. The legend explaining the colors in relation to the values can be found on the bottom on the right side. According to this legend, the water insecurity score is highest in the specifically marked areas in dark red and lowest in Kazakhstan.

The Caspian Sea is also marked with a label on the map.
